The Property Council of Australia, SA Division, has heralded the launch of a new approach to redesigning Adelaide’s CBD revolutionary.

At the public launch of 5000+, SA Division Executive Director Nathan Paine said this new integrated approach to city development would leapfrog many of the obstacles that have traditionally impeded Adelaide’s progress.

“The launch of 5000+ is a watershed moment for Adelaide,” Paine said.

“It’s a revolutionary approach to how we translate our countless thoughts about the strengths and weaknesses of our city into meaningful, transformative actions.

“Although us Adelaideans are often self-deprecating about our city, and about the way we tie ourselves up in knots over change, it’s our shared desire for our city to meet its potential that has led to this world-first approach to city planning.

“This is something we should be proud of, and as a lead conversation partner in the 5000+ process, the Property Council is extremely proud to be a part of it.

“The importance of this to the future of our inner city can’t be overstated. For the first time we are breaking down the silos of activity; council borders and government agencies to have a warts-and-all examination of how we can make our city more livable, more sustainable and more vibrant.

“But the most important player in this process will be the community; government and industry must take their engagement processes to new heights for this to work.”
