What is your opinion on the current state of the residential property market in Sydney’s eastern suburbs?
The market is strong and holding up despite the GFC. In recent months we have seen a decrease in clearance rates which can mainly be attributed to increased interest rates and seasonal changes (market seems to cool when the weather does)
Do you have any tips for first home buyers?
My best tip for home buyers is get into the market as soon as you can afford it. Make sure you finance is pre-approved, so you can move fast and not miss out. Always do lots of research and don’t sporadically search for property, if you have made you mind up to buy, you must be in the, market daily, not to miss out on opportunities.
Briefly explain your degree at Harvard University and what inspired you to enrol in this?
I completed the OPM (Owner President Management) course, which is a leadership focused program for heads of companies. My main inspiration for doing the course was a recommendation from one of my largest clients who also completed it. Through our dealings, he got to know a bit about my character and plans to scale a business which led to the suggestion I enrol in the course to gain knowledge and some necessary tools in business.
Does a house with an approved Development Application increase its sale price? Why/Why not?
This really depends on the DA If it is a well thought out DA which can capitalize on the value of the property than definitely yes, but if it is a very unusual (client specific) and expensive to build DA, then I would say no.
What was the most expensive property you have sold?
The most expensive property I sold recently was 241 Bondi Road, Bondi Beach. A block of 12 which we sold in April this year, 10 days before auction and about $300,000 above Vendors expectations- a very good result!
241 Bondi Road
What was the most difficult property you sold and why was it difficult?
The most difficult property we sold recently was a very small studio on Bayswater Road in Potts Point. The size and poor strata report made the sale almost impossible because not many banks would lend on it being less than 30m2 and the condition of the common area’s put most Buyers off. We got their in the end, but definitely lost money through time spent on the project.
What are your interests outside of work?
I enjoy running, going to the gym, boxing, travel, cars and foreign affairs
