The Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) has aligned with other international planning industry groups to promote the annual online conference that will be held on World Town Planning Day, 1-2 November 2011. This year’s theme is “Going Public: Spaces in our Communities”. Some of the key topics to be discussed over the two day conference include; management of public space, public places are good for your soul, reclaiming space from cars and access for all.

According to the organisers; “The purpose of this conference is to bring together ideas from around the world, about how we are planning for and designing our public spaces to be even more public, as well as supplement for less private space.”

One of the distinct advantages of the conference will be the opportunity to connect live with other urban planners. However, planners living on the other side of the world, such as in Australia will be disadvantaged by the time zone. The schedule will include various speakers.
